Meet the blogger/bookstagrammer for SoaH

Hey, I’m Rune, but some folks from work may know me as El!
Pronouns: they/them/theirs
I prefer to avoid femme nicknames. When in doubt, dude, Rune, or gremlin is okay!
🫶🏻 Personality type: INFJ-T | Enneagram 2-9-6

My little family currently lives on a settlement here on Treaty 6 Territory. Home to Beaver Lake Cree, Michif Piyii (Métis), ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐤ ᐊᐢᑭᕀ Nêhiyaw-Askiy (Plains Cree), Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce (Stoney), and Cree communities.
My family moved from Colombia when I was younger, and I am fluent in English and Spanish, but I will keep all SoaH communications and content in English.
Behind the scenes, where most people never see, I’m also living every day with chronic illnesses and pain, physical disabilities, mental health struggles, and I’m also on the autism spectrum. I try not to let these things slow me down, but I am only human.
For work, I am a personal assistant to romance authors. I provide various services to romance authors (for example, formatting, marketing plans, graphics, and community management). I also own a small business that serves romance authors with merch and metaphysical needs.
When I’m not working, you can find me curled up either in bed, in my egg chair, or in the passenger seat reading. When I’m not reading, I’m usually spending time with my Sir and/or my pup, playing video games, baking/cooking, working extra hours to help people get caught up, listening to music, or binge-watching new shows the day they release.
When it comes to reading, I read and plan to share a bit of everything as long as it is an adult open-door romance. I do not share YA or closed-door romances as a personal preference.
FAQ
Q: What’s your fave colour?
A: I love deep forest greens, deep teals, and black. If I have to add a splash of colour aside from those, it would be lilac/lavender purple or mulberry pink.
Q: What’s your fave band?
A: Rainbow Kitten Surprise, this band hits home in so many ways lyrically and on a human level.
Q: When did you start reading?
A: I’ve been reading since I can remember. I started with poetry and textbooks, then fantasy, then YA romance, and now I’ve found my comfort zone with all kinds of spicy adult (open-door) romances.
Q: How do you feel about generative AI?
A: I think it’s important to know the difference between assistive and generative AI, and I firmly believe that gen-AI has no place in the creative industry. Not in writing, editing/proofreading in replacement of real people, and not in art or any graphics or cover designs. Prompts are not art. Gen-AI to create “art” is not okay.
Q: Do you get paid to review books?
A: Nope, I don’t ask for and would never accept payment for reviews. I often wait for stuff your ereader or freebie days, or I’ll join ARC/ALC teams.
Q: Which device do you have to read on?
A: I have a Kobo Libra Colour and a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. I also read on my iPad and phone as needed. If I can read in paperback, I will always prefer that. I love to read & listen, so audiobooks are a guilty pleasure!
Q: Do you have any triggers?
A: Pro-religious romances/materials, clowns (I need to prep myself in advance), self-unaliving on page, loss of a love interest by su!c!de (specifically n00ses/h@nging I need warnings for), CSA (on page in detail), or DV (on page in detail). If mentioned as a memory / you’ll die for what you did, that’s fine.
Q: What is your fave food?
A: Oh gods, birria tacos, ramen, or eggs benedict with roasted potatoes!
Q: Do you have a fave romance subgenre?
A: I don’t have a single genre that I prefer, as a bit of a mood reader, I like to keep open doors when it comes to my TBR. I do love romantasy and fantasy romance, paranormal romance, monster romance, sentient object romance, reverse harem and why-choose, taboo/forbidden romance, omegaverse, dark romance, contemporary and romcom, MC romance, mafia romance, and so much more. I do read historical romance, but I tend to read less of it.
